How to return to Lisbon from Santiago

There will be four of us returning to Lisbon from Santiago around September 19 or 20. We are wondering what the easiest way to do this is. Bus? Train? Plane? Renting a car? With the Camino Portugues becoming more popular I also wondered if anyone might have set up a van service? Please let me know what you think the best and easiest way would be. Thanks

Hi!
If you're travelling during the week the best way is by train.
If you have to return during the weekend I think the bus is probably better.
Anyway it takes about 7hours.

If you return by train you have to take a train from Santiago to Vigo in ordem to get the 9AM train from Vigo to Lisbon

Some days ago there was a discussion about it on this forum. The bus is okay . I have no experiences with the train any way not the fast train .
Renting a car. You start traveling back in Spain and leave the car in Portugal which means high costs. I do not know if there is a plane going from Santiago to Lisbone.
Ask my good friend Diogo92. He is very often on this forum and knows about

Note there is no central bus station in Porto ... you need to know where the bus companies have their stops.

Thank you all for responding. We actually did go with returning on a flight from A Coruna. It is only an hour and a half flight. Using TAP Portugal the price was only $104 per person. Since we thought we'd be coming close to that using other sources and this would save us nearly a day in travel, we went for it! Gives us another day to enjoy Portugal before we have to get home. Thanks for your responses.

It's easy! In the pilgrimage Office there is an ALSAbus Office! Here you can book and pay your ticket!
We had the bus this week! Arriving to. Santiago latest monday!

Yep I think that is what I will do as well. Don't want to waste time sitting on a bus when I could go exploring more in Lisbon before flying home.

I made that trip this past May by train and it was thoroughly enjoyable. However, I did stop for a day in Porto to see a couple of sights, especially the Altar of Jesse. If any of you are seniors, be sure to ask for the reduced rate for train tickets. Buen Camino.

Going back from Santiago de Compostela to Porto, Porto Airport, Lisbon or Algarve:

Take the RENFE-train from Santiago de Compostela to the Vigo-Guixar railway station in Vigo (€10 -> 17 train connections per day) and from the bus station in Vigo take the AUTNA bus (€12 to Porto & Porto Airport, €32 to Lisbon, €42 to Algarve, 5 buses per day). Reservation of both tickets can be made online. You can even pick your seat in the AUTNA-bus online. The AUTNA-bus has a toilet.
You can also take the ALSA-bus to Tui (= Spain) (about €20) and across the river in Valença (= Portugal) you can take the AUTNA-bus (€8,05 Porto & Porto Airport, €28,05 to Lisbon, €38,05 to Algarve, 5 buses per day)
You can also take the Castromil-bus from the bus station in Santiago de Compostela to Vigo. They have their own ticket office at the bus station in Santiago de Compostela.
From the Airport in Porto you can take the metro to all destinations in Porto.

You can also take the bus from Santiago de Compostela to Fatima in Portugal (the bus takes 8 hours)
Ask also more information at the Tourist Office, at the Pilgrim's Office and at the Bus stattion in Santiago de Compostela.
See if ALSA or Castromil can take you even to Porto. but so far the train to Vigo and the bus from Vigo sounds to me the cheapest.
Count for less than €30 p.p. to reach Porto from Santiago de Compostela! Buuen Camino!
