How do you get from Terminal 1 to Terminal 4 at Madrid Airpo

Dear helpful people, this time next week I will be on the Camino I am a little nervous and excited about lots of things.
Can any of you tell me how to get from Terminal 1 to Terminal 4 to get the bus to Leon? Thanks to previous advice from you good people, I already have my bus ticket so I don't have to worry about that.
I would just like to have an idea of how the whole bus link thing works and how long it is likely to take to travel between the terminals.
Thanks to all you who take the time to read and reply.
My husband tells me that he thinks I will have spent as much time reading on this forum as I will on the Camino, I think that's a win win situation.

There is a metro you can get underneath the airport that drops you at T4. And it's free from what I remember.

I was pretty sure that ALSA only has a stop in T4, and wrote them a question on their "alsablog" and in fact that is correct. So, Amykate, you will have to get to T4 for the bus.

Getting from T1 or T2 to T4 is easy -- during the day there is a free airport bus making the rounds every five minutes. More specific info here: traveling-to-from-the-camino/topic17380.html#p126004

The Outside View shows the overall layout of the airport. There are views of each terminal. Go to T-4 to see the location of the ALSA bus stop and ticket machine.
