Heat in Aragon

I’m currently in Santa Cilia on the Aragon route. Like many others the heat on the Camino is serious and must be worked into your stages. Somport two days ago got up to the 80sF. Jaca was scorching. 16k to Santa Cilia was enough for today, 98F here by the local pool. Carry more water than usual and start pre-dawn is advised around these parts. Buen Camino

If I remember from last April, very little fountains or bars to obtain water. You will have relatively long stretches on pebbles and rocky surfaces until you reach Monreal. Santa Cecilia was hot.

Hope it improves in a few weeks. I’m on the Tolosana now where we’ve had our own heat issues. I will cross the border around Sept 9.

When I started in Somport in early May 2023, it was hot and everyone was talking about how unseasonably hot it was. Definitely need to be conscious about water on that route. There IS water, but not nearly as frequently as on the main drag Camino.
