Has anyone seen these coins yet?

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
A selection of Camino Jewellery
The article I saw in the Cantabrian newspaper (El Diario...) says they are 30 Eruos, and mentions "they cannot be used to pay", which I take to mean a commemorative coin (google translate).
The article did not specify a source for the coins.

Perfect memento/gift in a presentation box. Engraving available, 25 character max.
From the Royal Mint in Spain, as one might expect. Not yet released.

I saw this but I was surprised. I think that the sale started a few days ago. When I go into the FNMT online shop (tienda) it lets me order it. I am not interested in buying it so I refrained from paying for it.

For info: It costs €30, it cannot be used to buy something in the eurozone (only in Spain???), but you can give it back at a bank and you will get €30 in standard euro money; that's why it says 'exchange' in the description of the coin.

Below is a screen shot of how far I got. Note that when you are in the USA you have to pay for shipping and charges which adds up to €100 in total. 3-5 business days. You only have to pay €55.30 (coin plus charges) when you order from an EU country (I checked for one of them)

Would have been fun to have some of them to pay in the albergues, but since you cannot pay with them...—.——— have enough to be thrown away when I pass away the next year or later.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-

The delivery and customs charges are the same if you order one or more. I ordered 5 and it was 220 euro. Order together with friends.

Does anyone know what this coin is made of ie: silver. If so what percentage. Is it a proof coin or just uncirculated? Is that Sterling silver?

It's made of silver and copper. And it's a collector's piece, not meant to be circulated. The Spanish Royal Mint produces a special commemorative coin every year. This year's one commemorates the Holy Year.

If it’s exchangeable, why isn’t it tender?
Tender is a Common Law notion, not extant in mainly Napoleonic or Germanic or Norse Law or etc Continental Europe.

Nevertheless, my understanding is that € coins officially issued by any Central Banks that are in the Euro zone in this manner can in fact be used as such, so that the claim that they shouldn't be used to buy stuff is likely to be closer to being advice not to waste the rarity, than to "these are fake coins".

I realize it is a commemorative coin. I am curious as to why they made it a 30 Euro coin instead of just a commemorative coin.

The actual estimated value of this coin (melt value) is $16. (US). So, before you order one or more and have it shipped to US know you are paying $113. for this coin based on Katharina model.

Collector's coins when issued are put into circulation. Just not in the normal manner.

Though there are exceptions -- some French 50 Franc silver coins were back in the 1980s put into normal distribution, beside the typical collector's editions.

An illustration -- several European countries have laws whereby no Casino can issue chips that do not correspond to some officially circulated currency ; so that when the Euro first started, the only legal Casino chips in those countries were €€ 0.01, 0.05, 0.10, 0.20, 0.50 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500.

Circulating a €30 limited circulation coin like this one adds that possibility.

Also, it definitely loses value outside the wrapper. That said, I realize most would buy this because we are Camino Junkies, not as an investment.

If it’s exchangeable, why isn’t it tender? Can it be exchanged by anyone? Just curious.
The €30 commemorative coin is not legal tender throughout the eurozone because that's the law. There are only eight different denominations for legal euro coins throughout the eurozone: 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 cent, and €1 and €2.

I'm not a collector and know little about this business. The Spanish FNMT sells two of these 'Exchange' commemorative coins, one for the Holy Year and another one in honour of the Anonymous Heroes of the first year of the pandemic such as nurses, doctors etc.

Incorrect, and as already explained "legal tender" is a Common Law notion not extant in Continental Europe.

Coins in € amounts issued by Central Banks of Member States of the European Union (and similar) that are in the Euro zone may be used at face value anywhere in the Euro zone.

I once lived for about 6 months purely from the proceeds of selling rare € coins to tradesmen. I learnt much in that period. (the UK € prototype coins were particularly amusing, as were the John Paul II, Sede Vacante, and early Benedict XVI Vatican ones that came in quick succession -- the Sede Vacante ones are worth a small fortune)

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
If you live in the UK, the cost comes to €79.
Gracious me !
As an investment, these sorts of coins are really only worth it if you have easy and direct access to the Mint on exactly the right day and the exact right time. In my experience, that will involve queuing.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
The motive on that coin is suspiciously similar to a painting by a Norw. artist, Theodor Kittelsen. Use Google Translate to read the article (It's in Norwegian). It was painted as an illustration of one (of many) Norw. folklore fairy tales about trolls, mysteries in the nature, etc. It is one (of many) iconic Norw. paintings touching our culture.

Here I found something else about the €30 Holy Year collector's coin: Tirada máxima: 1.000.000 uds.

A million pieces for sale. Is that a lot? I think so. You can perhaps buy it for a mere €30 without taxes and shipping cost when you walk a Camino in 2022?

I edited an earlier post. I now think that the €30 can be used as legal tender in Spain but not in the other countries of the eurozone. Regulation (EU) No 651/2012.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Yes, definitely because we are Camino Junkies!😇

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
