Today is St James' Feast Day.
Hope you all have a wonderful day - and if you are in Santiago enjoy the festivities - give the saint a hug from us all!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
It's a special day - today marks the first, and second anniversary of the date I started my first, and second Camino.

Wish I could be there.

Happy birthday to he, happy birthday to he (etc etc etc) so how big a cake would it have to be to carry all those candles?

I too would like to be out there ..... sob....

St James' Feast Day

Uh... how many candles? If it was his birthday then probably only 40 something candles. (His cousin died at about age 33 and he died about 10 years later.)

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Wow, in the rush of things, I had completely forgotten today was St. James' Day! I was wondering why I felt the urge to go get supplies for my next Camino!

Thanks for the reminder & the great shot of the Santiago at Roncesvalles!

Br. David's "happy birthday" post raises a slightly intriguing issue. Some saints' feast days are reckoned on the day of their deaths (e.g. St. Francis Xavier). How did July 25 end up as St James' feast day?

St James' Feast Day

Some historians say that James' feast day used to be in December but it was mid-winter and not many pilgrims journeyed to the tomb so a decision was made to change it to July.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
