GPS without a SIM card

I think this has been discussed before, but for some reason my copy of FireFox does not like the search feature of this forum. So I will have to ask the question again. Is it true that I can use an iPhone or iPad that has GPS capability without having to have a cellular connection? Several maps (Navfree for one) can be stored on the devices. Thanks. MBJ

Yes, absolutely, if your phone or tablet has gps capability it will work without a cellular connection.

You can use it without a map, or load an offline map.

To see how it will work, just turn off the data and wifi and launch the app.
