I'm in the process of creating 300 bracelets / anklets / bookmarks for my June walk in Portugal and I've made the realization that this batch will make over 1,200 bracelets that I've given away on the Camino... the yellow hemp cord to represent the yellow arrows on the Way and Picasso's Dove of Peace in bronze. I've passed them to fellow pilgrims, hosts, religious sisters, village people, waiters, hospitaleros, bus drivers, children...that crossed my path and today I wonder if anyone on the forum has one? A long shot, I know...but 1,200 over 7 walks...curious

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Not me personally, but it's a very nice gesture.
I once received a pair of Camino shell earrings given to me at the LaPosada dinner table in Roncevalles on my very first Camino, and I wore them all the way to Santiago...a very nice memory!

The gift that now often comes to mind was from two Ukrainian girls in Santiago's bus station in 2019. They came up, introduced themselves, and gave me a beautiful hand-painted wood egg with their bright smiles, for America. They're much on my mind now

I too once received a braided bracelet from a young Ukrainian woman on the Portuguese Camino. She had little hair and was tiny as she was recovering from chemo after ovarian cancer...I think of her often, wondering if she won her battle, and feel such sadness now thinking she may be in the middle of another. We pray.
