Getting back to Biarritz from Burgos

Camino Portuguese planned for April 2022
I am looking for some advice about public transport from Burgos to Biarritz please.

My parents and I will be walking the Frances next April/May from SJPDP to Burgos and then return the following year to continue the next stage of our Camino, probably completing it the year after that.

I have been trying to establish the best way to get back to Biarritz airport by train. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have walked the Frances twice before to Santiago and flew home from there, so that was very straight forward. I’m not familiar with public transport in Spain, so would be grateful for any suggestions.

Thanks 😊

Train for your next Camino on California's Santa Catalina Island March 16-19
I suggest going from Burgos (Rosa de Lima) to Irun. Then either taking the local Euskotren to Hendaye or just walking the 3km or so across the border - an easy walk. Then a local SNCF train to Biarritz station which is only a 25 minute walk from the airport.

Thank you. That’s really helpful

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Have you already purchased the tickets? Maybe it would be easier to fly into Biarritz and home from Madrid.
So far I’ve only booked outbound flights to Biarritz. I’ll have a look at flying back from Madrid. Do you know if trains go direct to Madrid from Burgos?

There are direct trains to Madrid. There are also ALSA buses which go directly from Burgos to the airport in Madrid.

I got the bus from Burgos to Madrid T4 this week. There were actually 2 buses running at the same time and they were both full. So book in advance which is easy online. The free shuttle bus to T1 is straightforward.

Thanks. I’ve gone ahead and booked tickets from Madrid to Manchester. I’ll ensure I book tickets early.

Hi I'm travelling to Burgos to walk part of the Camino Frances next year and my options seems to be fly into Santander and coach to Burgos, or fly into Madrid, then coach to Burgos. Don't think...
