Getting a Compostela on a Sunday

This may be a question no one can answer, but if I arrive in Santiago de Compostela about noon on a Sunday at the beginning of July, what are the chances of my getting a Compostela on the same day?

Very hard to tell. There was a time when queues were hours long in summer. The pilgrim office have introduced a new computer-based registration system and they are now printing Compostelas rather than writing them by hand. From the description that @t2andreo gave recently it sounds as though it may be much faster than in the past and long queues may be rarer in future.

As you suggest, it’s impossible to predict. I did (unusually for me) get a compostela in early March and, although there was no queue whatsoever and I walked straight in to the desk, the process took about a minute. That was substantially faster than the last time I asked for a compostela in 2017.

I suppose the answer is ‘better than it used to be’
