I already know that I will need to leave my trekking poles behind as I head home.
Is there any way that my used gear can make it back for another pilgrim to use? This seems wasteful and unnecessary.
Is there a place I can donate gear that will be transported back to a starting point for other peregrinos?

I don't know of any central service of this nature that collects gear, leave aside transporting back to one of the many starting points where it might prove useful. It is an interesting idea, and I wonder how it might be made to work.

Hi Gord,
Pilgrims leave things all the time here at Pilgrim House before they fly home. We'll take your trekking poles, extra clothes, extra gear, and anything else you don't want! And then pass them along to other pilgrims who might be starting out from Santiago. So please do come by and shed your unwanted gear with us.

We're open every day except Wednesdays and Sundays from 11am - 8pm. This summer, from June 14 through July, we'll also be open on Wednesdays. We're at Rua Nova, 19, in old town, just a couple blocks up from the Cathedral.

Buen Camino!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Good point, Doug - we're not able to transport gear back to any starting points. That would be an interesting idea for some enterprising soul!

But if pilgrims are heading out from Santiago to walk to Finisterre/ Muxia, or if they arrived in Santiago first and need last-minute things before heading to their starting point, they can rifle through PH's collection.

Thanks to @t2andreo for recently adding a bunch to the men's donation box.

Transport luggage-passengers.
From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
Ypu can always offer them to those planning to walk via your national "Friends of" association.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).

Love your Pilgrim's Office, Faith! Was there to leave a shell for Denise's memorial last year, and was glad to get a citimap there for Santiago, because if not for that I'd be wandering around Santiago still (preferably existing on gazpacho from Bierzo Enxebre).

Thinking of that walk to Finisterre/ Muxia: Do you have the information handout for the walk that the tourist information center has? This is the one I am thinking about: http://www.caminodesantiago.gal/documents/17639/155453/Fisterra Muxía - Plano - EN.pdf?version=1.0

Hola Rick,
We don't have that but the Galicia tourist office does. Their address is Rua do Vilar, 30 (down the road from the Santiago city tourist office).

What we do have are credentials to Finisterre and Muxía, plus a little booklet of accommodations and restaurants. The SOLPOR association drops these off once in a while, and you're welcome to come by and take those.

Buen Camino :)

I look forward to meeting you in a little over a month!
Perhaps we can find an enterprising soul to spread the joy!\
