I just read the latest update on the extraordingary security precautions that are being taken during the G7 Summit in Biarritz. The town will be on lock down for 4 days. The beachfront area and city center will be designated as Zone 1 and only residents of the city with special badges will be allowed to walk there, no vehicular traffic will be allowed for 4 days. The remainder of town is designated Zone 2 which includes the airport and train station areas and only pedestrians and residential cars are allowed access. The article says the airport will be closed to commercial flights and only available to G7 traffic during the Summit.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
I also learned yesterday the trains station will be closed. I do not know how this affects Bayonne because it is one stop before Biarritz.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Last summer I had to deal with the rail strikes after I'd already planned and booked my walk on the Le Puy. It had my nose out of joint as I had to juggle a few of those plans to catch my flight home in time...those chinks in the armor are not fun to deal with, but usually work out in the end.

Chris , I hope my cautionary message gets some traction, this is a know predictable event and it will work out in the end.
As you know I leave for Paris in a week to travel to Le Puy, so the G7 is no issue for me.
I have read on Slow Strollers and APOC where people are getting notices of Ryanair and Easyjet flights cancellations and can not find train schedules for Bayonne late in August. There are going to be a lot of confused and disappointed pilgrims when they eventually find this normal connection in their travel plans has been eliminated.

Just got this message (23 May 2019) from easyJet:

Due to the G7 Summit in Biarritz the local authorities will be closing Biarritz airport to the public from 23-08-2019 until 26-08-2019. Flights are unable to operate to/from Biarritz during this time. Easyjet is re-routing flights to Pau Pyrennees - 44 miles from SJDP.
Check with your airline if you are flying into Biarritz during this time.

I just read that Easyjet is rerouting passengers to Pau and Express Bourricot will be offering service to SJPdP.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
I posted a similar message a few days ago. The train stations in Bayonne and Biarritz will be closed as well. Apparently Express Bourricot is making preparations to offer service from Pau to SJPdP.

Cheers for the heads up I'll leave for Biarritz on the 21st instead and head for st jean on the 22nd. Starting my camino on 23rd :)

Does anybody know if I were to take a bus from Paris to Bayonne ( still available for booking ) if the trains from Bayonne to St Jean Pied de Port will still be running on Sun the 25th of Aug?

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

A comment to this article says that Bayonne station will also be closed - so Pau seems your only way to get to SJPP that weekend

Thank you Spursfan, for the information.
It appears I'll have to look at re-routing through Pau. Are there daily trains from Pau to SJPP?

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
