I am planning to walk from Le Puy to St Palais then to Hendaye to join the Camino del Norte. I need to know how long this variant takes, how far it is and where I can plan to stop for the night.
Thanks
Sharon

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hello Sharon, Stayed in St Palais in October 2014, lovely place. In 2011 I walked the Le Puy route to St Jean Pied de Port and on to Irun and Camino del Norte using the GR10 Pyrénees. The Prrenees is tough but a great hike, now I believe there is a lower level route from SJPDP to Irun. I am sure the route from St Palais is lovely and will do it one day.

I plan the same transfer, did not find good routes online, therefore drew my own. I don't expect to go via St. Palais but stop at the gite in Larribar-Sorhapuru (near the Beneditenia 3-Caminos stone). From there it's about 82 km to Irun. My first stop will be in Hélette, and then probably in Espelette and Ascain, so it should be an easy four days. Ascain apparently does not have (cheap) pilgrim accommodation; on French websites a different, slightly longer route is therefore recommended between Espelette and Irun. My walk from Beneditenia to Irun will be on small country roads.
If you are interested, I can e-mail you the maps.

Thank you so much Walter. Yes I would love the maps. I used to PM people on this site. I see that this has changed. I will give you my email address somehow.Sharon
