Can anyone recommend how I can use public transport to get from St. Jean Pied de Port to Toulouse to catch a flight out? I need to plan for how long this will take and how I manage it without much French.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Train/bus from SJPdP to Bayonne and then train Bayonne to Toulouse. If you wish send me your date and will search further info for you on Voyages-SNCF.com. SNCF is the French railway; language should not be a problem since most SNCF ticket agents speak some English.

Bon voyage !

Thank you, this would be on or about May 9th.

You can separate your journey into 3 sections ; 1. SJPdP to Bayonne, 2 Bayonne to Toulouse rr station and 3. Toulouse rr station to airport.

1. SJPdP to Bayonne.
Presently the trip is by autocar/bus provided by the railroad which will connect with a train at Cambo les Bains. The bus and train ticket are the same. Price is roughly 10 euros.
By your ticket at SJPdP rr station/ Gare SNCF; if closed ask at Pilgrim Office, 39 rue de la Citadelle where to buy ticket and board bus.
On Saturday May 9 buses leave SJPdP at 05:50, 09:30, 13:37 and 16:30
The connecting train arrives Bayonne at 07:16, 10:43, 14:49 and 17:44

2. There are several trains from Bayonne to Toulouse Matabiau station throughout the day. The Bayonne rr station is small and the ticket office on the right side of the entrance lobby. The staff will speak English. Journey time is less than 4 hours to Toulouse Matabiau station. On Saturday May 9 trains depart Bayonne at 08:05, 12:03, 16:11, and 17:47

3. At Toulouse Matabiau station buy a ticket for the Toulouse-Blagnac airport shuttle which depart every 20 minutes throughout the day. Read more in English here.

Bon chemin and Bon voyage!

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
A note: the "navette" shuttle leaves from Toulouse Matabiau to the airport from inside the immediate "gare routière". Or this is what it used to be last time. It may be a bit confusing if you don't know.

Thank you very much. This is most helpful.

There are three buses daily from SJPdP to St. Palais, and then two connecting buses to Orthez train station. From Orthez there are trains to Toulouse, some that go back to Bordeaux!

Thank you for the tip. I have never had any trouble in France except when within 100 meters of a train station.
