I've just been looking at the services details on Gronze and it tells me there are all services at Vairao but nothing at Vila do Conde. Does this sound right? We'll always carry emergency rations so will never be starving, but I'm wondering how much faith to place in the available information.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

if they /Gronze were right, the citizen of VdC would be starving 24/7.
of course there are supermercados, bakeries, cafe's etc. and plenty of restaurants also along side the river front street. quite pretty.
but very noisy on weekend nights, if you are planning to stay at accommodation along that area. (as we did, to our regret)

As I understood from the hospitaleiras of the monasteirio do Vairão they even supply a pilgrimsmenu. We will see next monday and let you all know about it in our blog.
About food along the caminho I fully agree with Claudia and look forward to these great " paderias"-bakeryshops for a pequeno almoço- breakfast, small bars and restaurants for a"menu do dia-about 10€, a three course menu at about 14h00 and a "jantar- a warm dish at night.
We are looking forward the various and famous Portuguese "bacalhão"dishes and a local dish called "Francesinha" from the Porto area.
Can't wait..counting down now.

Pilgrims who will fly over Europe -read France- still have the threat that french aircontrollers are striking from April 29th till May 2nd so probablably there will be flight cancellations.

Anyway. Bom caminho e bom apetite

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
You're a rascal falcon. I know people eat, but maybe they take their car 10km to get to a panaderia! That's a big detour if you're on foot.
