Flight & bus ticket bought - a new adventure is about to start

July 31 I'll go to León and August 1 I'll start a new camino. Camino del Salvador and then Camino Primitivo. I have to do them in Swedish fast style as my plane leave Santiago August 15. So 14 days. But that should be enough if I look back to my previous camino. And if not well then I have to interrupt and come back another time (or I can still use 3 weeks to reconsider to skip del Salvador. I don't start work until August 18 and can move it to 19 so in worst worst case I have to buy new tickets home ). I was not supposed to do any camino at all this year but the calling got to strong and I convinced my family that I really need 16 days away for this. Its much shorter than the 35 days last year ;-)

I'm starting to get a little bit nervous, I'm leaving in 15 days and all threads are about crowded camino, hard to find the way and a "hard walk" but I know I have faith and a good portion of Finnish "sisu" and Swedish strength

I walked this Camino in the Spring of 2013 (April). This Camino is well marked, imo. As far as crowds, I did not see another Pilgrim. The toughest part is between Buiza and Campanones (sp.). If it is wet or snowy it can be a bit difficult in places. I do not think you will have any problems. If you stop in Poladura de la Tercia, I recommend you make a reservation at the Casa Rural. The Albergue is quite spartan.

There is a great guide put out by a fellow named Ender who also marks the route.

Thanks. I have Ender's guide. Will check out the casa rual if I decide to stop there. I'm not really a planning type. I just walk till my body says enough for today.

beautiful choice of caminos! For me, that would be about 17 days of walking, but then again, every person is a world... In Poladura, Posada el Embrujo is a must, BEAUTIFUL breakfast and dinners, but it depends upon how you break the stages. I would strongly recommend it! You would have to book, though, since it is August and it is peak holiday time in Spain. Also Oviedo is worth a good visit.

Fabulous choice! It's beautiful, challenging, somewhat solitary in spots....

Last year I did Leon to Oviedo to Santiago to Finnesterre in 16 days, so you should be able to make it... (Some insane days) My itinerary went like this:

1) Leon to Pola de Gordon (36k)
2) Pola de Gordon to Pajares (33k)
3) Pajares to Pola de Lena (26k)
4) Pola de Lena to Oviedo (33k)
5) Oviedo to Cornellana (33k)
6) Cornellana to Tineo (30k)
7) Tineo to Pola de Allande (30k)
8) Pola de Allande to Grandas de Salime (38k tough)
9) Grandas de Salime to Padron (Fonsagrada) (29k)
10) Padron to O Calvado (24k)
11) O Calvado to Lugo (30k)
12) Lugo to Ferreira (29k)
13) Ferreira to Arca (56km long day)
14) Arca to Santiago to Negreira (40km)
15 / 16) onward to Finnesterre

So if your final destination is Santiago you could break up days 13&14 obviously if u are inclined.

I loved it. San Salvador was definitely off the beaten path.

I will start a few days before you, and am not in a rush so I am sure you will fly by me at some point! Say hi when you do , you'll be able to recognise me by my orange crocs dangling at the back of my pack! ;-)

Did a training walk with my backpack and gear yesterday. 38 km from home to my work in Luleå. 7 hours of flat walk mainly on asphalt. I had a short break at a friends house after 22 km for some lemonade, was needed as we had 30 degree C. It tells me that I will have pretty long days in Spain. And I love it.
