Does anyone have any experience fishing along the Le Puy route? I have a very light tenkara fly rod that I am considering taking this summer if there are opportunities to wet a line along the way.

I think the first research should be into the fishing laws in France along the path you are taking.
Most countries have some very strongly enforced laws.

Having said that.....there are some really inviting rivers and streams along the Le Puy route!

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
I have fished for trout and coarse fish, roach and catfish in several parts of France and you can often get holiday permits valid for a week or more for specified waters. The other option is to join a local fishing club which can then give you rights to all waters in France as a form of reciprocal agreement exists there. But do some research on the web.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Thank you everyone, looks like I have a bit more research ahead of me. Does anyone know what section of the way are more streams and rivers? First third, middle third, etc....

I would say the middle third. Namely the rivers Lot, the Celé if you take the variant, the Tarn, the Garonne and the Adour.

I spent a lovely afternoon with a young French guy fishing Lake Bousquetara just past Le Baradieu just before Condom. He was from Northern France and said it was his favorite fishing spot in France. Worth checking out.

The Lot commences around St Come
Have a great time and enjoy your catch in Espallion where you will get some.

Your rod is not the right one for the salmon that are found near Navarrenx. The fishermen I talked with there were using spey rods. The salmon were running there in late April.

In general I would suggest querying the local or regional Bureau de Tourisme anywhere you find you might want to fish.

I saw many rivers and streams that looked like they would hold fish along much of the Le Puy route. I saw few fishermen, however.

Good luck.
