Hi,
I plan to be in Figueres on Wednesday , July 15, 2015 to start my Camino. I fly to Barcelona and will bus or train to Figueres. I am really trying to walk this journey with as much spontaneousness as possible. I am looking for a good place to begin my Camino in Figueres. Maybe a guide shop or information center, also a place to stay.
I am hoping to be in Figueres, find a good starting point , gather some Intel and then learn as I go. Maybe stay a few days in Figueres to get my feet underneath me and then begin the Camino.
I have chosen this route because my last name is Jacobsen and the route bears a similar name (Jacobean)
So if anyone can fill me in about Figueres and how to plant my feet there so I can start a bit grounded.
Thanks
Jake

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
The central point of Figueres is the Salvador Dali museum in the center.
Figuerues is well known over the world because of the artist Dali lived and worked there.
It is a significant building right in the middle of the towncenter.
Nearby the museum is the tourist info and there are several hotels and hostals Have a loook at www.booking.com.
I used to work for some years in Catalunya and often stayed in Figueres due to my biggest client was situated there.
Buen camino

Hi,
You will find documentation about Camino Catalan at the Tourist office of Figueres. When we walked through Figueres, they gave us documentation and a map related to Camino in Catalunya.
They are Plaça del Sol, on N2, that main road crossing the city.

We did the same you are planning to do. From Barcelona, took a rapid train to Figueres, spend the night, and the following day, took a small bus back to La Junquera (spanish/french border) and walked back to Figueres before leaving the city the following morning. That way, we consider that, at the end of the road, we'll have walked the Camino Catalan (through Huesca) in totality. We are planning to re-start in Vic at the turn of october.

Buen camino !

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
