Father's day

Al the optimist

Veteran Member
It is Father's day in the UK today. For the first time in the last few years I am actually in the UK for it so I am going to enjoy being taken out for lunch by my daughter. But I would like to remember all those who won't have the pleasure because they are on the Camino. So to all of you who find themselves in this position - Happy Father's Day!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Al: the sentiment is appreciated. I lucky enough to be here in Ferrerios with my son. It has been a good Father's Day so far.

You and your son have been in my thoughts and prayers every time I see your posts. I hope all is well.

Happy Father's Day!

Father's Day evening we were lucky enough to be invited by a group to join them for dinner. The discussion turned to Fathers and I realized how much I had learned about my son on this trip by seeing how he interacts with others. He also has his Grandfather's love of architecture, which became very evident on the Camino (as you can imagine)!
My father is 93 and has dementia now, so he does not recognize his grandson, much less remember his professional career as an architect.
I truly am sorry that my Dad could not have been a part of our conversations about the styles of churches along the Camino and been as proud of what his grandson knows and has learned.

Walking with our children is priceless, and words can't express how pleased I am to hear of your journey. Your pride as a father shines through! What a great gift to see your own father echoing through into your son even as you see him in a new light.

Although my son will have wonderful memories of his camino with me, I think the greater treasure is mine in seeing him with new eyes.

That is well put.
As the Movie says: "Our children are the very best in us and the very worst in us."
