Despite taking four years of it during high school, I know very little Spanish--though I am trying to work on it before I begin in September. What English to Spanish phrasebook did you find helpful and light? I want to be able to communicate basic things probably accompanied by LOTS of hand motions! Did you only use the Brierley portion? Or was there something else you found to be more useful? I have the Rick Steve's Spanish Phrasebook but it includes a whole lot more than I want and thus is heavier than I need. I have been thinking about cutting it into pieces but before I do that, wanted to poll the amazing expertise on this list.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Pieter (from Santiagobis) once posted this phrasebook for pilgrims on his Forum.
Enjoy!

Is this albergue free of bed bugs or can I bring my own?
I only need one bed. My manservant will sleep with the horses.
Have you got a strong box for my jewelry?

Is that a piece of tortilla española in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Hello,
nice to see The Real Sense of Humour, ...my manservant... I think I´d print it and take with me and learn it by heart.

I thought Grant might respond to this thread but when he didn't I sent him a pm. Here is his reply:

A selection of Camino Jewellery

Phase list aside, Collins print a Spanish Dictionary called the Collins gem. Small and light weight (slightly larger than palm size)

English - Spanish; Spanish - English; a verb table, a list of phases covering meeting people, accomodation, shopping, health, restaurant, and best of all a menu reader so you have an idea what you had just ordered for lunch!

Only snag ? you would need a magnifying glass to read it.
