Too hot to be on the Meseta in August for me...

Think it will be cooler on the Norte? Could be in Bilbao or Santander or Oviedo and still view totality.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
I am sitting on my deck at home having a Paloma; a new refreshing drink a friend on the Gulf turned me on to as a Snowbird in winter...no Orujo or wine today @Tincatinker. This is my first day to be out here in the Midwest on a lounger in full sun after a 4 mile walk on my local trail. The Eclipse is supposed to appear around 2:30-3ish here so I'm glad it isn't a cloudy day.

OMG, Gunnar! It has been years. Thanks to the forum member who alerted me to your post. I am about to experience the eclipse here in Illinois, but just wanted to write in to say how good it is to see you back on the forum. Gunnar, for those of you who don’t know, was a huge technology help to many, had a radio camino show, and helped enormously with the preparation of the Salvador guide we used to do as a group with Ender. And I also have to mention how Gunnar called me from Belgium when I had a total GPS meltdown on the Olvidado and my GPS expert partner had to stop walking because of blisters. I still remember walking up to the Aguilar de Campóo dam with his calm voice telling me that I would be fine and patiently walking me through the steps. I hope you are well, Gunnar! Buen camino from Laurie

(sorry for off-topic ramble).

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I am still out on my deck, but have had to put on a puffy jacket and an afghan. The sun is still shining with no clouds, but has turned "dull" and the blue sky is lackluster. Not sure it will get fully dark where I live.

It was dark with clouds and rain here in Tx.
In the path of totality, it got nite dark..with clouds according to newsies.
Best of luck up north and east!

In north central Illinois I could see a bit of coverage over the sun if I glanced up and it got a bit chilly even though the sun stayed out, but was less bright. It has warmed back up to 65°F at the moment; all is well and nothing major happened including no dark sky.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I was in the totality for today's solar eclipse. It was very impressive, even with cloud cover. The nice thing about a total solar eclipse in August in Spain (at least, in places like the meseta of the Camino Frances) is that I am unlikely to have to worry about that. I'm okay with an August Camino.

It was perfect in Norwalk, Ohio yesterday, just as it was 7 years ago in Madisonville, Tennessee.

Here's a copy of a post I made a little while ago on another thread.

We're still in Texas after seeing the total eclipse. We've been doing a lot of driving for this (but also visiting relatives). Worth it.

Anyway, here's Spain 2026 eclipse information (the info is on a webpage about a tour but I'm not pushing that; it's already sold out and the waiting list is full too).
