Train for your next Camino on California's Santa Catalina Island March 16-19
My sympathies amigo, get well soon.
You could try asking the airline whether they really do want you sharing your flu with their ground crew, aircrew and a few hundred other passengers or whether they'd prefer you to fly when you are no longer contagious. One would hope that your sacrifice would motivate them to waive their punitive charges. I would give it a go but I appreciate that it isn't easy fighting bureaucrats when you've got flu.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

So very sorry to read this Zzotte....would your medical insurance not reimburse you for these 'change' charges?

Unfortunately not, they barely cover what is needed :(

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

Well perhaps as Seabird suggested; talking to a supervisor. I'm sure you don't want to travel when ill, nor 'share' it with other travellers. I do hope you can work something out. I'm sure you researched travel insurance companies. Hope you can find one with better coverage. I think there might be a thread on this subject. Might be worth a look……do take care.

Thanks, Its kind funny I always buy travel insurance the first year that I don't...... :(

But you are such a seasoned Caminoite……..and know it's just a good idea keep yourself 'covered' - pun intended. Please get well soon.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Hi. Sorry to read about your flu. I can suggest, if you don´t feel real bad, take the fly. (Be care about spread others) You can have two or tree days rest at your destination and start walking later. It could be cheaper than pay a penalty of 300. But only if you dont feel really bad. Good luck anyway!

Good advice from Pinguigrino. I've flow several time with a cold or the flu and many more time ended up catching a cold or the flu while flying. Wear a mask on the plane and take a few days off when you arrive and start walking when you have recovered.

So sorry to hear about your flu, but hope you've got things sorted by now. Just a suggestion - maybe someone knows definitively - do credit card companies provide any compensation for situations like this? I think there are a lot of benefits - especially if one uses a credit card from THAT airline - that they don't advertise, but are in their Guides to Benefits. Buen Camino, zzotte, when you ARE able to get going in good health!!
