Documenting our journey advice

Time of past OR future Camino
My husband and I will be enjoying the Camino de Santiago (French Way) next May 2016.
As typical when planning a trip or in this case the pilgrimage, each item packed is essential keeping in mind the weight. We are extremely aware of each ounce and have become quite efficient when it comes to packing. That being said, the more I prepare for this trip, the more I want to record small portions along the way. I normally only take pictures but my mom is elderly and I want to share this experience with her. We don't want to bring our laptop and I know how quickly video taping anything on my iPhone will drain the battery quickly.
What are your suggestions for a small, lightweight and reliable way to record? In addition to the device, where or how would I be able to forward these video clips along our journey?
I value any useful tips available.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
You have an iPhone, use what you already own, so it drains the battery, big deal, just plug it in at the end of the day when you get to the albergue.
If anything, back up your photos and video on your iPhone to your home computer before you go to Spain to free up space on your iPhone for more photos and video you'll take when you go on the Camino.
A back up battery pack might be nice to have, just charge the battery pack and then use it to charge your iPhone inside your pack out of sight of prying eyes.

I used a Dropbox app to backup my photos each time I found WiFi as well as to share images automatically with folks back home.
I warmly recommended writing a blog... I wanted to keep track of Camino experience and discovered I had a lot of fun writing it
