Do you have Blogs with a Religious Element? Seeking...Finding...

Hi Everyone,

Since returning from walking the CF alone, my wife is starting to express an interest in walking together next year.

She only wants to try the final 100 kms of the CF initially (bad legs) and wants to walk for a spiritual/religious purpose. She is hoping to find/build faith through the walk.

I found this happened to me whilst walking this year and talk about it quite a bit on my own Blog.

But...those are just my experiences.

Pat is hoping to read stories from other Pilgrims who perhaps set out seeking faith and found it. Like me she is Spiritual rather than traditionally 'Religious'. Though I have to confess, I was virtually a 'card carrying' Catholic by the end!

So if you have Blogs with those elements in them, we would love to read them.

Robo, I've yet to walk the Camino, so I don't have a blog to offer, but I'd also love to read some along this theme and I hope others will post their links.

In the meantime, I'd like to suggest a book that your wife might find of interest, "Along the Way" by Losana Boyd, available as e-book through amazon (not to be confused with "Along the Way" by Martin Sheen!!

Although not a blog, it's written in blog style, with daily entries reflecting on both her inner and outer journeys. She is a "returnee" to the faith and undertook the camino as part of way to deepen that faith and comes to terms with parts of her past. She hiked the Camino Portugues, but what she writes could apply just as easily to the Frances. Neither blisters or nor spiritual reflection are exclusive to a single path!

. A quick, short read from a woman's perspective.

A couple of more books (but not blogs) written by religious (ordained) persons walking the Camino, and which offer spiritual insights:
Walk in a Relaxed Manner, by Joyce Rupp (a Catholic nun)
Hiking the Camino: 500 Miles With Jesus, by Fr Dave Pivonka
Both are available at Amazon.com, though I'm not sure about Amazon.com.au .

One that I really enjoyed is:
To the Field of Stars: A Pilgrim's Journey to Santiago de Compostela by Kevin A. Codd. He seemed to be very honest about his journey, changing attitude, trials and shortcomings along the way.

Robo, you might be interested in the virtual Camino blog written by a friend of mine, Pierre Angleys. A devout Catholic (but also very much involved in ecumenical spiritual awakening in Geneva called Cursillo, and the Presbytery faith - Church of Scotland - through his American wife), Pierre walked from Geneva to Santiago in 2005. He is 'walking' it again but searching for inner understanding of life.

"Along the Way" by Losana Boyd we found a bit 'heavy' for non Catholics. I should probably have requested books/blogs of a more 'spiritual' than 'religious' nature

The formal rituals and 'jargon' are a bit tricky for someone not brought up with it. (and for whom English is a second language)

'To the Field of Stars' by Kevin Codd is a much lighter read
