Camino de Santiago - French Way
This is the our first time Camino.

I'm taking my son (11 years old) to do the whole French way. I have booked the leaving flight at July 24th from Santiago.

I don't know the exactly day when we arrive Santiago since I don't know how my son is doing during the walking.

How's the hotel or Albergue in later July? Is it ok to find place to stay when we get there? Or I'd better to book one in advance for at least the last day July 23rd.

Thanks,
Snowbird

That’s very close to the Feast of St James. I imagine Santiago will be particularly busy around that time.

Or I'd better to book one in advance for at least the last day July 23rd.

If you pre-book you will probably have more options and different prices to choose from and additionally, if you book through a booking-site (e.g. booking.com) you will have the option to cancel or change the booking for free until a few days before.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
I say yes, at least for the 23rd, the night before your flight. Santiago is a very popular place to stay.

I would certainly book something for the 23rd the night before your flight, it would save any last minute panic before your flight the next day.

A selection of Camino Jewellery
I agree with the other posts, book a place in Santiago. I was there last year to volunteer at the pilgrim’s office and Santiago was crowded with pilgrims and tourist.

I highly recommend Hotel Capital de Galicia. They took me in at 3 AM one night after I arrived off a bus with an injured leg. I stay there every time I am in Santiago ever since.

As soon as you know when you will be in Santiago - it is best to prebook. I usually give it a good guess and book Santiago pretty far in advance - and as I get closer, I evaluate again and see if it is still a realistic arrival date and make adjustments as needed. If you wait - the less expensive reservable places are usually full. Just don’t do non-refundable, and know your “free to cancel byl dates.

Thank you everyone for your replies.

I will book the room for at least last day July 23.

Too bad I didn't know July 25th is St James day, otherwise I would like to stay there.
