I am so happy that i just received my credencial!
But now i am wondering how will all the stamps fit inside those pages? I want one stamp of the places i visit and then after Tui needs two stamps per day. How is it possible to fit all? Do they give you extra pages or the stamp itself is small that fit many per page? Thank you.

A selection of Camino Jewellery
My own solution is to glue several identical ones together to make a bigger and better one ; in most cases, 2 to 4 are sufficient.

White glue is best to purpose.

Though my own current credencial is extreme even for me ; it's 10 of them stampable on both sides ; one side for the Way there, the other for the Way back.

I have always had enough room in my credential when I walked from SJPDP to Santiago.

Each of three times we've walked CF my wife and I have filled two credentials each. We're all set to go for our upcoming CF. We have credentials from American Pilgrims on the camino and Jubilee Year credentials from Ivar. Bob

Perfect memento/gift in a presentation box. Engraving available, 25 character max.

The French one provided at SJPP has stamp space on both sides. The Spanish ones typically only have it on one side, in addition IIRC to having fewer pages.

They're beautiful credenciales, not dissing them in the slightest, provided you get them in a year when they're not experimenting with a new type of paper, but for longer Caminos, the two most common French ones are easier.

Even so, gluing multiple Spanish model credenciales together works perfectly well ; have done so myself ; and for those who like framing such memorabilia for wall display, their one-sidedness is clearly a plus.

Cool idea!

I can see me doing the same. 😊

How many spaces are in your credential? Surely more than enough for Porto to Santiago!
Its the beautiful one from here. The whole back side is maps. I have 5 1/2 pages for stamps but i doubt that will be enough for me. Even doing a smaller camino. Unless the stamps a really tiny. I need to see one to check how is the size of these stamps. How many stamps fit in one page? 6?

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Cool. I was curious. Mine is a bit different so probably fit less. Less pages too. I will get one more. I will post my page. It is divided by the shell instead. Cant wait to see it all full.

When I ran out of space, I just got another credencial and started in on that one. But I DUCT TAPED the two together because weeks of rain inevitably made the folds soggy and it was falling apart. It looks like a weird accordion caterpillar now but is as precious as precious can be. There is no shame in using more than one credencial, I love looking at all the stamps I collected.

Be prepared: Three is two, two is one, and one is, "what do I do now". :-) As others above have said, get another one or two Credencials, or have some card stock in your stuff to make extension 'pages' to the one you have now. 👍👍

Do they have these only in main cities? Like Lisbon and Porto not in small cities? That way i would not need to carry an extra one until i need it. I will start in Porto to SDC.

It looks like the pages are the same size, they just aren't divided with lines. You should still be able to get at 6 to 8 stamps on a page. Walking from Porto you shouldn't need more than about 20 stamps.
My credential from American Pilgrims on the Camino had 56 spaces for stamps, and my credential that I bought from Ivar has 46 - still more than enough for Porto to Santiago.

I, myself, would take two from the outset. They are not heavy and take up little extra space. If you have one left over, they do not expire so you can use it the next time you walk a Camino. :-)

Our grandson at 13 years, made it his mission to collect as many as possible. We just ended up getting extras along the way as he filled them up. We were surprised at the level of inventiveness people will go to, to stamp a child's credential. Not just the standard stamp as for an adult, he had wax stamps, bits of ribbon, actual shells, and drawings.

So nice they do that!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

When i opened the credencial it is so beautiful that i already imagined it framed!

If you are going to frame the credential(s) then get a good number of them because once they are framed you will only see half of the stamps. Framing means that you only want the stamps on one side of the credential(s).

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
When I walked from Roncesvalles, it became apparent as I was walking across the meseta that I would run out of space in my credencial sometime around Astorga, so I got a second one in Leon. I didn't try and tape them together. I just packed away the first one once I started using the second. It reduced wear and tear on it. I brought them both out when collecting my Compostela. Having them separate instead of turning them into one big credencial also made them easier to frame. :)

When I walked from Porto, even though I tried to be fairly assiduous in collecting stamps, and got more than the minimum, I had no concerns about filling my credencial.

This issue comes up from time to time. When it arose a couple of years ago, I designed a printable blank sheet with a basic grid on it for collecting sellos. I think this is the correct link to that post.

I just checked it. The "Z page" foldable add in page opens. I created it to have two pages so it could be double-sided printed.

Adjust grid size and paper size as needed. The default is US, letter sized (8.5 inches by 11.0 inches). You can use Word to change all of this to easily fit on an A4 sheet in landscape mode.

The reason why there is so much blank space at the bottom of the page is so you can trim to fit YOUR credential booklet.

I hope this helps.

Tom

We were not required to have two everyday when I walked in 2011. I had 2 passports. I had one stamped by the alburgues and the other stamped by Churches, etc. I really was not interested in other tourist stamps.

Framing your stamped credential on the wall is a good warning for guests NOT to say, "I see you walked the Camino. Tell me about it!"

That depends on you. If you ask for a stamp everywhere that you stop, i.e. albergues/hostels/hotels, restaurants/bars, stores, etc. you will need several credentials. If you strive for 2 stamps a day, you can get by with one. I usually carry 2 each time I walk the Camino. It helps in knowing where you were, because I ask for a stamp wherever I stop regardless of the purpose.

Funny you said that. I am sure as i walk i will go with the flow and may need to change path... but by checking and counting my stages and if i get two stamps per day which that is probably the minimum i will do, i counted 34 stamps and funny enough my passport fit 34 stamps perfectly. If i want to do 6 per page, 34 is the perfect fit. Pretty coincidental and cool! 😉 But knowing myself i better have another one handy because i will be like a little kid getting stamps everywhere! Lol i think the main one i will do churches +hostels. And the extra one restaurants and other places so i collect all that i want and memorize places.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Don't count on the Digital Credencial. Nobody heard about it (at least in Navarra) the only QR stamp I received was in SJPdP Pilfrims Office 😀 Paper still rules on the Camino. And cash. And the hope that more pilgrims arrive...

Never gave thought about what something like this can create on others. I already talk about the camino so much with something like that (frame) they will start the talk then for a change! Funny i love to talk about it so much and have never even done it yet. I got some permanent “good” bug!

I guess the goal is coming back with no cash and lots of carimbos! Lol Glad and lucky for exchanging.

Get another credencial. Lots of places sell them, including albergues and cathedrals along the way, then staple them together. But running out of space is very unlikely unless you are doing a very long camino. It's never happened to me.

This doesnt answer the original post, but I just had a thought.. If you keep a journal, you could also ask them to stamp in that each day, to record your locations and memories.
Lovely idea Jill. You are inspiring me. 💕💕 Oh i thought they only stamp in the official credential. So if i want to get two stamps at the same time, one stamp for my credential and another for a notebook they allow it?

Yes. I am planning to make a copy of the other side to frame together. Or actually keep the original and frame only color copies on acid free paper to avoid fading and use uv glass too. The beautiful credential i have only have space for stamps on one side. The other side is all maps.

Would who allow it? Im not sure why it would matter, as long as you have the credential fot Santiago, too. Many of the stamps are beautiful.
