It's a legal requirement in Europe, that websites tell you that they collect information about your "website address" - they are telling you, and you are telling them that you agree!

Usually not problematic with a Forum like this, but e.g. Airlines use this info. commercially, to "push prices" as you "check prices".

It's life! Just like the phone book, could be used for many other purposes

Hi Michael
I've been avoiding the question myself.
It's been floating at the bottom of my iPhone for days.
I didn't want a stream of junk coming thru and had wondered if it was an 'ad' type getting thru by mistake.
I still haven't accepted. I was hoping Ivar would mention it

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Thanks Annie.

I undertstand fully what the information gathering "Cookies", are been used to process our content not particulary for our beneifit as stated by trecile .

I am not been Orwellian but in other sites they let you enter even if you don,t accept the proposal for cookies .

Just suprised the forum has moved in this direction. I understand every body has to make a living, but I feel the appropiation of our content is unnessary on this great site.

The E.C. note on regulations regarding "Cookies" is contained with the cookie message but no optout.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
You can also alter your preferences to automatically block any third party cookies. Then either leave the forum cookies or delete them on closing. Most log-in type sites need their own cookies accepted to actually log into the site, but not just to read it.

The point is why was this introduced without notifying the forum? Its such a great site but in my eyes dimished by this. This is my personal opinion, I know I can leave the site if I dont agree and block them If I need to.

I have never signed up to cookies, Ivar said we can delete ads if we make a Subscription does this still hold. ?

I think that the forum has always needed cookies to log-in and it is simply that now the EU directive demands that this is made noticeable to users. I have in the past had the forum cookies listed as 'allowed for session' in my browser preferences. If there has been any change it would seem to be that they now are auto removed when I close the browser, rather than my choice for 'allow' being saved.
Most sites I have cookies blocked, and it certainlly was easy to do - but the sites involved were not ones I would expect to log into.

I agree. The site has always used cookies, otherwise it couldn't "remember" what post I last read in a thread. The requirement to notify users of the cookies is all that has changed.

To be clear: if you are american, almost every website you use uses cookies without your permission. All that is happening here is that you are being made aware (and asked to agree) of what everyone else is doing anyway. Its an EU regulation (and a good one at that), but it isnt like this is the first site you've authorized cookies for. You do it, implicitly, every single day. This is just the first time you were made aware of it
