Depending on where you live and study, this is an ongoing thing. Every year dozens of students, individually or in groups, walk the Camino or other pilgrimage routes as part of their university experience. The Peaceable hosts two such groups as they pass by in the summer, one from College of William and Mary in Virginia, and individuals from Bowling Green State U. in Ohio. (We do the same, informally, for students at U. of Oslo, Universidad de Leon in Spain, and Erasmus in Rotterdam, but they are, so far, another kettle of fish!)
In February, academics from about 30 colleges and universities in Canada and North America are meeting in Washington to discuss combining their curricula to form a comprehensive North American Pilgrimage Studies academic regimen, eventually with study centers at pilgrimage sites worldwide.
Soon as things go public I will let everyone know the scoop.
