So I think my plan is to take the coastal route from Porto to Caminha and then go from Caminha to Velanca to meet up with the central route. That way I get a good taste of both. If the weather is bad on the coast Ill go inland at Vila de Conde but Im hoping the weather is great. My question is, does anyone know how to find the path that goes from Caminha to Velanca? I saw someone's blog post showing a very wide nice pathway but I have not seen any instructions are how to find that path coming out of Caminha. Does anyone know if it is marked? Has anyone done this path? 3 weeks away and Im trying to finalize my general route. I usually leave it pretty much up to how I feel each day rather than follow any set stages. I have 11 days.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

In Caminha keep the river Minho at your left and look for signs to Vilanova de Cerveira and the path is close to the river Minho all the time to Valença do Minho

Bom caminho

Albertinho, so coming out of Caminha do you have to walk along the N13? It seems like a very busy road but I dont see another way out of town in that direction. I am google earthing it and thats what I see. I am assuming that there are signs or camino path signs? thanks.

Yes the N13 is very busy but closest to the river now there is a path .
If you look on Google Earth and enlarge the screen you can follow it

Eventually you can cross the river at Vilanova de Cerveira and walk to Tui ,keeping the river at your right. There are no waymarkers but the target is the same. You'll arrive at the central route to Santiago.

I'm pretty certain that there is a waymarked route from Caminha to Vila Nova de Cerveira.
Out of Caminha you have to exit via the N13 road, except for the train its the only connection over the Coura river and the marsh lands where it meets the Minho river.
About 7km away from Caminha (along the N13) there is a Ecopista, a tarmac lane for pedestrians and cyclisct that goes alll the way to Valença, passing through V. N. Cerveira. Because it goes along the river, it is pretty flat.

The waymarked Camino may be more interesting, passing through the villages, but may not be as scenic.

I walked this route in 2014 and followed the arrows leaving Caminha. There was a short stretch along the highway, but then the arrows took me up into the hills until shortly past Vila Nova de Cerveira where it joined the river side path. There were nice views across the river to Spain, at least when the clouds lifted and the rain stopped. I thought it was one of the most scenic days of my walk.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
