I've just got back from completing my SJPP to Santiago and would return in a heartbeat. What a fantastic experience.
Of course, it is the people as well as the location and history that make the camino what it its.
One of many favourite moments was jamming with a guitar playing, chain-smoking monk who could play the guitar like a dream. We ended up doing Johnny B Goode with him playing and me singing in the courtyard of an Albergue. (we actually did it twice so that someone could video and upload to Youtube)
Some experiences, you just cannot buy.

I miss being on Camino!! :(

Franciscan friar is called into the Prior's office to be berated for chain-smoking.

After being given a real telling off he asks "ok, I will try and stop, but in the meantime, can I smoke whilst I pray?"

Prior goes absolutely ballistic, rants and raves about the sanctity of prayer and tells the friar to leave.

Friar stops at the door, looks back and asks "well, is it ok if I pray whilst I am smoking?"

"Absolutely" returns the Prior " do that every time you smoke, marvellous!"

Which goes to show that it is viewpoint that is important!

p.s. Frank. Do you have the Youtube link????

Is there more than one? Or is this the same monk I ran into a couple of weeks back at the top of Alto de Perdon!

Which Albergue?
