Getting ready for our next Camino. Once again we will be leaving from our home in Barcelona and following the Catalan Camino. We plan to walk as far as Pamplona and then make our way to the Loyola route for the journey back home. We intend to begin our journey on 24 March. Hope to meet some of you along the way!

Join Camino Cleanup: Logroño to Burgos May 2025 and Astorga to O'Cebreiro in June.

Hi
Is the route well marked from Barcelona? I assumed it was well signposted from Loyola to Barcelona not the other way.
Buen Camino

You are correct. The Loyola route is only marked in one direction: towards Barcelona. We will be following the Catalan route and the Aragonese route on the way up to Pamplona.

So will you be walking from Barcelona up to Montserrat? I walked into Montserrat from the north, as I started up on the French border, but in Montserrat I met @LTfit who had walked from Barcelona and was pretty hammered. I think there are several alternatives, but if @LTfit tells you it’s crazy hard, you’d better be careful! Good luck with this, looking forward to hearing about your experience. Buen camino,Laurie

Yes, Laurie, that is correct. We will be walking from Barcelona to Montserrat. And, yes, it is difficult. (Perhaps not as challenging as our diversion on the Dragonte route last year, but challenging to be sure.) We did this last spring and I have written a description that you can find in the Catalan Camino sub form. We will be repeating some of the early stages but then take the route via Lleida for some variety. Thanks for your wishes.

I should add that there is something special about being able to start walking a Camino from one's home without the need for transportation. It offers a real sense of adventure. Kind of like running away from home!
