In the Travelling to/from Santiago thread there is a post about Ryanair and Cash Passports
'Ryanair tightens the screws again'.
We have been looking at the various Cash Passports available here in the UK for loading with Euros.
1) Apart from the problems of acceptance (or not) we have found another cause for possible concern. In the UK bank accounts are covered (within limits) should a bank fail. There is no such cover for a Cash Passport. If there should be a failure of the issuing bank then you lose your money. Not something we would have thought about previously.
2) The terms and conditions also need very careful studying. Last year I had one of these cards when I went to meet Terry in Santiago and terminated it on return home. I had only been able to read the terms after I had signed up for the card and realised it was not for me long term. Glad I did in view of (1) above.
Other people may have different experiences/feelings but we will take some Euros plus our well secured debit and credit cards which worked OK for Terry on his Camino.
