Hello, fellow pilgrims. I'm very excited to let you know that my memoir, Cancer, Kintsugi, Camino, Is now available on Amazon. It's not a straightforward Camino memoir, though parts of it are in that style. I use lyrical prose and poetry to tell a story in the form of a mosaic. The reader feedback I've received so far has been positive! I hope it speaks to you.

Not just a memoir of breast cancer and the Camino de Santiago. It’s also about Jewish identity, atheism, family, AIDS, COVID, metaphors and similes, breathing, bricolage, journeys, self-reflection, and hypothetical cuckoos. Through richly-layered fragments of lyrical prose and poetry, Shoshana Kerewsky conveys the rhythms of thought, feeling, and walking in a sparkling narrative mosaic.

Edited to say I'm not sure why the links weren't working, so I've removed them. You can find it by title on Amazon :)

Kintsugi is my internal word. Like many, it sums up my life. I wish they made gold ink, I would get a tattoo somewhere that reminded me of this transformation. As a bc survivor I will definitely read your book. I've only heard of one other person reference Kintsugi before 💕

If you'd like to know more about the art of Kintsugi, and its application in everyday life, there is a stunning and beautiful book (published last year) by Makoto Fujimura, called Art & Faith, which in its own way I'd recommend for every pilgrim to read.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Before COVID hit, my husband and I visited Japan, where I took a private kintsugi class. I was attracted to kintsugi because no matter what kind of challenges life brings your way, I think somehow, we're all broken. I know I am. But we can become more beautiful for being broken, just like the art of kintsugi... The Camino represents a bit of that burnishing and refining power to me.

How wonderful! Coincidentally (maybe?), as I am finally recovering from some tribulations of the past few years, I have planned a Kintsugi ceremony with some friends - then, in the fall, I will take my first Camino. I am also Jewish, also a writer (and writing professor, who, alas, teaches the 5-paragraph essay to freshman), and I also plan to write about these last years in some way. I look forward to reading your "mosaic"!

I appreciate your help and enthusiasm! I've edited the OP since the links aren't working. Thanks so much for posting them. It's so interesting for me to hear about your relationship to kintsugi.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
