Hello, I hope this thread is not out of place. I would like to know if any of you has good suggestions for a 5 day route etapas from Valenca, Portugal to Santiago de Compostela. Last year we did the French final etapas in 5 days and it worked out well. I found the 6 day route on a website, but can not really afford to take all that time off and some etapas are pretty short. i was wondering if any of you had done it or have some good suggestions?
Many thanks in advance

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Hi Caterina, I left Valenca last year on May 2, stayed in Porrino that night, O Refuxio de La Jerezana, just outside Redondella on May 3, stayed at the Amigos Albergue in Pontevedra on May 4, stayed in Caldas de Reis May 5, Padron May 6, arrived Santiago May 7. The temperatures were very high at that time and so I was walking more slowly than I usually would. Be aware that the cafes and fountains are not as plentiful as on the Frances so make sure you have enough water and snacks. in the Brierley book the walk from Padron to SDC looks to be a killer, but I and the peregrina i was walking with by then left the town just before 6am and had lots of stops along the way, but that last stretch into the city took its toll. Bom Caminho!

Welcome Caterina!

Here is a planner you can use to figure out where to start and stop each day.

Bom Caminho!

My husband and I walked from Tui/Valenca, Redondela, Pontevedra, Caldas de Reis, Padron and then Santiago and it was a wonderful walk. First day is about 33 kilometres but the rest is very manageable. We wrote a blog called ourwayportuguesecaminho.wordpress.com if you would like to see more about our journey. We followed the route suggested by John Brierley

Hello Seb, May and Shushy. Thanks so much for all your answers. This makes planning my trip much easier and keeps my mind at rest!! Seb, I hope me and my flatmate will manage the heat, as we will be leaving at the end of July. We shall be mindful to bring more water to start with. Finger crossed! Mike, thanks for the planner, I will surely make good use of it. Also, will have a look at your blog Shushy. thanks for the suggestion! I am so excited and feel so blessed to do the Camino again
Bom Caminho a todos!!!!
