Acabo de añadir un mensaje al foro que se llama "Useful docs/Compiled Info." Iba a añadir un mensaje con otro documento que detalla todo el camino del norte por etapas (contiene mapas, consejos de listeros de este foro, etc...¡en total super útil!), pero el foro no me permite añadirlo. I was about to post a message with another document that details the entire Camino del norte by "etapas," or stages (it contains maps, suggestions from members of this forum, etc....in all very useful!), but the forum does not allow me to post. HI Everyone,
I received Kates document and it is excellent.
I received it as a word document and then saved it on my Mac as a PDF file.
I then imported this PDF file as a book into ITUNES.
I then sync my IPHONE and the docs come on easily.
(I should mention that you need an app, which is free, called ibooks, on your iphone.)
With this app you can then view the PDF files and avoid carrying paper or documents as it all on your iphone.

Any document you prepare your self in word or excel or other office files can be saved as PDF files and synced to an iphone or itouch in the same way.
If you have hyper links in the document, they stay active in the PDF file on your iphone and this is particularly usefulif you can access some of the many free wifi networks on the camino.

You have precis very well indeed and fellow pilgrims on the Norte route will/should be very grateful , a great job.

1/ Mike It would have made it a fraction easier for you avoiding getting lost but you have helped many on this route by doing such. [ With humour]
2/ Peter old mate, in the back kick should be 35 pages ,folded , after each day tear up a page and after 35 or maybe a few more with stopovers there will be a smile on the face.

I am anti mobiles as i can remember many years ago when no bookings were allowed , only the poor old buggers that arrived .
Not being personal Pete just that we walk the caminos we have [4 ] for the simple pleasure of avoiding all the normal crap that has entered into our ' modern ' lives.
In Melbourne the other day a guy travelling on the tram using his mobile, talking so everyone knew his life, dressed in a suit, was told " Quiet mate most are reading" The applause was deafening.
But i will confess Peter my bride,The Fuhrer had an Orange phone she purchased in Le Puy in her bag without my knowing.
By the time we got to Figeac i was grateful she had.
Don't be too hard on me Mike.

Hi David,

What to do about mobiles, i didnt want to take one with me on my first camino, i thought it would be a once in a lifetime experience, so no mobiles, no guides, little did i know i would be at it again a few months later, this time with mobile and guidebook.

I think i am pointing your way for my next camino, no mobiles, but if i do take one, it wont be coming with me next year, then its "hasta luego modern world" for a couple of months.

A pilgrim does not have to fill a large pack.

Moderation is possible in all things. A discussion of preferences rarely has a single outcome. I am thinking about ordering a few thousand "Wireless Courtesy, Please" stickers to post nearly everywhere, including the forehead of the woman this morning who almost walked in front of a car while talking on her phone.

Hi Falcon,

The actual difference between not taking or taking a mobile for me in the end was errrr.... nothing! I hardly used it on the 2nd camino, once to ring my mam, and a couple of other times while walking the last three days to keep in touch with one person. So why not take it? I think it is symbolic action for me, cutting off ties with home, work, family and friends, and that appeals to me on some level.

I did walk with some Germans on my 1st camino who had downloaded the entire 'Outdoor' book on to their mobile, and were using it as a camera as well, now if i do take a mobile it would have to have multiple uses like that, guide, camera, GPs(if i change my mind again and do walk from Almeria) and last and least, connectivity. I am still a long way from that.

We all have different needs, and i have read some of your posts regarding this topic, and family is an issue for me as well. Where is the line between being selfish and living out a need within you, which it is not possible to explain. Maybe there is no line for me.

HI Folks,
never considered the whole mobile no-mobile thing really.
I am a techie geek and carry my phone/mp3 player everywhere.
I do appreciate the notion or concept of leaving it behind.
I would reassure all who may be in my company that it will be off for phone calls, except when I decide to make a call. But for music and maps its a no brainer (for me that is).

Also I have people who love me and who I love also who want to know where I am and I think for practical purposes its important to me. I do understand the difficulty with such devices and accept that, but you know I had an experience on the bridge at portomarin with a borrowed MP3 player that will stay with me forever and beyond. Seems that when I am physically and mentally tired that some music really permeates and hits a special spot.

Peter, it is a while since you made your post, so am not sure if you are still around, but thanks for these clear instructions. As a result of a burglary (while I was away on the Camino) I am now very up-to-date with Mac technology. Am still getting used to the way I can sync things. It will be very helpful for general use, not just for Camino documents!
