Hello all, my husband and I will be embarking on our first Camino in 2 weeks. We’ll be in Lisbon. We would like to begin at around 5:30am midweek. However, we’re not sure how we would get our passport at the cathedral at that time. Any suggestions? We land at the Lisbon airport on a weekday the evening prior. Does anyone know the cathedral hours? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My first thought was to request online. https://americanpilgrims.org/request-a-credential/ allows you to get one ahead of time, but I just looked and it says to request 6 weeks ahead. You could try, but I don't remember how long it actually took. Their website also has a page with local chapters...you might try to see if you can get in touch with one (reasonably) close to you to see if you can pick one up in person.

Second thought is that the cathedral opens at 0900 - so you could wait until they open and then begin your walk at that time. If you have a long first day, you may shorten it a bit? I did the camino frances and there were only a few long days and some really short days, so you might be able to massage the itinerary for the first few days to start later on day one.

Third thought is to just spend a day in Porto and begin the following day. If you schedule your trips as tightly as I do, or have already made reservations, this may not be possible, which is why I put it third.

Buen suerte y buen camino. Oopsie - guess that shoulda been in Portuguese.

What are your dates exactly? I arrive in Lisbon to do the Portuguese Camino on September 7 in the afternoon but I don’t officially start my Camino until September 9. Depending on how the dates worked, I might be able to coordinate and help you out. Just a thought.
