Camino Levante Spring 2025

Time of past OR future Camino
may 2023
Hello, in light of the storms affecting Valencia and the first part of the Levante I have been exploring the option of starting the Ruta de la Lana in Alicante and meeting the Levante in Almansa. It now appears to me that this route may be a nicer option regardless of how the storm recovery shapes up, especially since I have read that the first four days of the Levante are on asphalt and not very inspiring. I am wondering if anyone else has ever done this? If anyone has an opinion one way or the other I would love to hear from you. My route starting in Alicante would be 1. Monforte del Cid, 2. Petrer, 3.Villena, 4.Caudete, 5. Almansa.

On the Levante I would be missing staying in Benifayo, Caraixent, Xativa, Vallada, and La Fonte de la Figuera. Are any of these must see stops?

Thank you!

Those first few days on the Lana are also on asphalt, which is why @Krimpa and I started in Villajoyosa, which is a delightful alternative with a lot of elevation. My stages here.

I think the first four days on the Levante are quite nice EXCEPT for the asphalt. Nice towns, nice ag areas, just too much pavement! My stages on the Levante were different than yours, but I did stay in Xátiva. The castle there is one of the best. Many more castles on the Levante than the Lana, but I loved them both.
