Camino Frances Albergues

Hi. I've searched everywhere and just cannot find a definitive and up-to-date list of albergues on the Frances. Can anyone help? Same with youth hostels as well, if possible. Many thanks and Buen Camino. Chris.

the Confraternity of St James publish a great book giving an up-to-date list of all albergues on the Camino Frances.

Hello friends.
The problem of all information in the internet one cannot say if these informations are regular updated. All these informations are not relyable.
Two examples:
First example: I am a member of the Saint James Congregation of Paderborn Germany. We run the pilgrims refuge Casa Paderborn in Pamplona. we have changed its telephone numberlast year. I am not able to get into contact withe the owner of the web site http://www.caminomap.com/ to let them know that we have changed our telephone number. So the old no more valid number is still published on this site.

Second example: In Burgos there is in the map the refuge "El Parral" approx. 2 km outside the city mentioned. This refuge is closed down in the summer last year in favor of the new refuge Casa de los Cubes.

Conclusion: You can never rely onto the information in the internet!

The pilgrim office in St Jean Pied de Port also will provide you with a very detailed list of all albergues and other accommodation in each town, It includes the services for each town and the number of beds. It is invaluable and is up to date as I used it when walking in September.

It is not accurate in identifying which albergues are open all year, though, so do not rely on it and arrive somewhere dead tired; you may still have some walking to do! Ask hospitaleros along the way about the status of albergues ahead, or use the phone, preferably the day before during hours when the place should be open. No answer, and it is likely closed for the season.

We are starting the Camino in Estella. We will arrive there by bus from Pamplona (where we believe we can pick up the Credencial). As we will not have walked into Estella will we be allowed to stay in the Albergue.

How are the star ratings of Albergues shown on the site. I see only an empty ratings box box when I click on any of them. I appreciate they are only a rough guide but!! I am frustrated trying to find them.
