Hello there,

Myself and 5 friends are heading out to Spain after our exams are done this July and are hoping to walk most of the Camino del Norte.

We have only 21 days but we are willing to skip out parts by hitchhiking / taking buses.

The question for us is: Which parts should we miss out?

We would like to walk the firs 7 days up to Bilbao, and we know it is necessary to walk the final 100 kilometres from Vilalba to Santiago. So which bit in the middle do you recommend walking and which bits do you think we should skip?

Thanks!

With only 21 days you will probably end up having to miss about a third of the camino. For a start if time is that tight you could look at avoiding the part between Guemes to Santander and Santillana de Mer, but that it probably only 3 days. In my opinion beyond that stretch you will always end up missing something so just take your pick!

Hi Spence You and your friends could see how long it takes to walk from Irun to Bilbao, its about 120 to150 km depending on the various route options. My suggestion after that is pick a place to walk to Santiago in one effort, there is lots of beautiful places along the route, some you will miss but some will be all the more rewarding for walking there.

Good luck and Buen Camino
