Camino Calendar no longer available

There have been several posts and PM's regarding the Camino Calendar missing from the forum.
I checked with Ivar and he sent the following message:

"Ed,
The Camino Calendar was created by a pilgrims a few years ago...
he/she just created a google account and gave out the password so that
people could add their trip in the calendar... It worked great for a
few years until the account suddenly stopped working, people could no
longer log in. I think google found out it was an "open" account... or
that someone with bad intentions got a hold of the password and then
google closed the account.

I like the idea of a calendar, but it needs to be well implemented so
that it works... ..Ivar"

This may very well be old news to some but the subject keeps coming up and I hope this explains it.
Maybe someone who is knowledgeable would want to step up and administer another calendar???

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
We put Terry's Camino on the calendar in 2009, and ours in 2010, when it was working OK. This year we didn't try as we had heard that some house insurers don't like their customers posting their absence, even if the house is not left vacant. A sad reflection on the times we live in.

I think it would be unlikely that anyone would match up a screen name with a location...unless they were very close friends/relatives with access to the camino calendar.

Unfortunately some of the insurance companies are saying you can be traced. Maybe to give themselves wriggle room. It probably depends on whether you also use Facebook, Twitter etc and maybe with the same name as on the forum. It may be an 'urban myth'.
However the Calendar has gone for other reasons. If it did come back maybe we should need to sign up and log in, like on the albergue rather than it being visible to the general public.
Not volunteering as I don't have the techie know how :)
