Hi Jungle Boy,
Thank you for your question. The “Caminho Nascente” (Fátima-Tomar-Fátima) was opened four years before the “Via Portugal Nascente”.

The “Caminho Nascente” was created by pilgrim volunteers, from the Associação de Amigos dos Caminhos de Fátima, to help the Santiago Pilgrims to return to the Caminho de Santiago after visiting the Sanctuary of Fátima or Walk in the opposite direction.

The “Via Portugal Nascente” is path from Portuguese Tourism Office. This path is a negative milestone on the Caminhos in Portugal because for the first time a “Caminho Santiago” was created in Portugal without an historical study to justify the chosen path...

When the governmental money stops following, the 3 “Caminhos Santiago” from the south of Portugal will be studied has an exemple about how to create paid History. Thank you and sorry about this issue. Is there a historical caminho that starts in the south of Portugal?
I don’t know any serious study that justifies an historical path or Caminho in the South of Portugal.
