Caminho Interior Português in 2020

Hello.

After my Central Portuguese Camino in 2019, I´m planning my next Camino and I choosed to do the Interior one,

I only have 9 days to do it, in June. What is, in your opinion, the best starting point for this amount of time? I was planning to start in Chaves but it seems that this will mean a lot of kms per day and that´s not what I want (when I say a lot of kms I mean more than 30 kms per day).

In my last (and first) Camino the goal was to not walk more than 20/25 kms per day. The objective was to leave early, walking during the morning, arrive in the albergue at lunch hour at have all the afternoon to walk around and know the city/place we were sleeping.

So I´m planning doing the same this time, but my searches on were should be the starting point that meet this criteria are not very accurate.

Does anyone around here done the same Camino in this amount of days?

If you start in Chaves, you only need 2 days to connect with the Camino Sanabres in Laza.

Although I was planning to go via Allariz I can think in others routes.

But can I get to Santiago in 7 days from Laza? Seems like to many kms to do in 7 days

I’m spending my winter in the Algarve and last week went on an 8 day road trip (in my car) with my dog from Porches (near Albufiera) to Bragança with multiple stops each day. I discovered Camino signage along the way which excited me. This Camino will be beautiful because there are many castles/forts, rolling hills and pretty high “low mountains” but green green and the Portuguese people are sooooo friendly and welcoming. Stayed in small hotels/albergues and paid on average €25 with my dog . Bom Caminho!

You should be able to make it from Laza to Santiago in 6 days

Laza puts you in Spain and on the Sanabrés, so you would not be walking the CPI, if I am understanding things correctly.

My initial plan is to start in Chaves and do the CPI, via Allariz, as I said in my first post. The user @amancio spoke about the Laza alternative, doing the Sanabrés.

I walked CPI in June 2018, we started in Viseu and made it to Santiago in 16 days without much effort. Wish there were longer stages available as some felt too short for me, for me the mountains felt not that streghnious there. These are our stages from Chaves, possible to walk in 9 days for sure:
Chaves-Verin, 29km, both towns are interesting to explore
Verin - Albergueria, 33km, nothing to see there, so possible to walk longer stages
Albergueria - Xunqueira de Ambia, 20km
Xunqueira de Ambia - Ourence, 22km, very interesteresting town for sightseeing
Ourence-Cea, 22km
Cea - Estacion de Lalin, 27km
Estacion de Lalin- Ponte Ulla, 35km, possible to stop in between in Bandeira
Ponte Ulla -Santiago, 21km
Frankly speaking I enjoyed walkking CPI to Chaves much more then Sanabres, and for me that would feel a waste to miss most of CPI starting at the end of it, in Chaves. If I had only 9 days to walk I'd most probably start at the begining, in Viseu and walk till Verin or smth like that, and continue next time from there. CPI still feels off the beaten path, Sanabres is much more popular, but if you are there for the company of other pilgrims and for sightseeing the towns then Sanabres might suit you best. But there was a change of plans and I´ll be doing the Camino Inglês instead of the CPI. There is a friend of mine that asked me if I could change my plans so he can join us and we all agreed. Time was the main reason to change it, the Inglês can be made in 5 or 6 days.

Thanks Desgovernos (mismanagement ?),
I hadn't realised , it was so along ago since my original post, the joys of lock down, I am about to start 3 and a half mounts later, I am now cycling via the Netherlands, ferry from Hull,
Belgium, France and then Spain, and hopefully by then Portugal's mini spike in the virus will be over.
