Is the way from Caminha to Tui way marked and how long is that stage? It is not very clear in the Brierely guidebook. thank you. Lisa Bom Caminho

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-

It is about 30 kms
There is a new footpath at the south bank of the Minho river but as far as I am concerned there is no waymarking.
But it is easy to keep the Minho river at your left and once arriving in Valença do Minho follow the original waymarkers of the Portuguese central route to Tuí.
You also can walk from Caminha to Vila Nova de Cerveira and cross the bridge over the Minho river there but once in Spain you walk alongside a national road. Not attractive imho.

Hi Lisa
I walked this route (to Valenca) in early June. It is definitely marked with arrows although they do go awry in a couple of places but easy to get back on track again. It is a pretty walk, especially when the arrows take you close to the river, but long and all on hard surfaces etc. You go through a lot of small villages and towns so plenty of places to rest and get a snack. There is a youth hostel roughly half-way, so you could break this stage in half if you wanted.

I would estimate this stage slightly longer than 30km..more like 32km.
Enjoy

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).

Did it in May and it was very nice and as well marked as other routes. Bom Camino.

Sorry - I should have attached the map I used. It is from the caminador.es site. I used those maps from Porto to Caminha and then on to Valenca/Tui.
Thank you so much for this. I have been really stressing about crossing over to Tui at this point and wondered if I should simply carry on via the coast or cross way back in Vila do Conde. I now feel I have options. Brilliant I head off next week ..... thank you.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I HIGHLY recommend doing only part of the walk along the river from Caminha to Tui. The first day, we walked along the river and stopped in Vila Nova de Cerveira. The next day, on our way to Tui, we started by taking the marked path on the hills then cutting down to the river after a few hours. It was BEAUTIFUL to walk in the hills in the morning. We crossed down to the river after lunch in a small town (I think it was Mea) and were happy to walk the flat river in the afternoon.
