last time I was in Caldas, there was no hostal. But DO check out the Hotel Davila. Very reasonable rates, spa, good food, and a real surprise awaits you out back.
Done a brief search and there is basic description of facilites at the Caldas hostal in this post. Although I didn't stay there myself (opted for a room at the spa hotel with inclusive treatment ) the hostal in Caldas town was certainly open end of April last year as several others stayed there.
Couple of hotels in Caldas are usually offered through booking.com including one of the spa hotels, just in case you fancy a treat
In December 2011 i stayed at the simple albergue in Caldas de Reis. It is located on the Calle Porto de Rio next to the thermal fountain. This links to it http://g.co/maps/s7nxe on a my Google map Camino Gazetteer.. Next door is a handy bar, O Torque, which has the key if the door is closed.
Buen Camino! Margaret
Hi DOWNIESNPD,
Welcome to the forum.
The albergue in Caldas de Rei is just across the roman bridge, there are pictures of it somewhere on the forum but I'm not clever enough to post a link.

I'd second recommending the Hotel Davila. A stay there with a spa treatment or two will make you feel 20 years younger. Not least because you're almost guaranteed to be by far the youngest person staying there (whatever your age).
The albergue in Caldas is indeed just across the roman bridge on the left. I walked past it recently. It is listed as being open All Year. Telephone numbers: 986540038 and 986541310
