Caldas de Reis, don’t miss the Roman mineral baths!

Ultreia et Suseia!

Camino training yields the best packing list!
Time of past OR future Camino
From O Porto in September.
If you pass by Caldas de Reis, make a reservation at a nearby "balneario" and soak your weary bones in these mineral waters that gave the town its name and that have been soothing travelers for hundreds of years.

I visited the Balneario Dávila and I can't rave enough about my experience. My body got a full reset and I slept like a baby. €10 per half an hour. Bring your bathing suit and towel. The mandatory cloth cap is 1€.

Afterwards have a drink or a tea in their conservatory/garden. You'll feel blissy and in lalaland guaranteed! http://www.balneariodavila.com/

Perfect memento/gift in a presentation box. Engraving available, 25 character max.
I have been to the "roman bath" in Baden Baden (Germany) about 20 years ago which involved kind of a specific regimen of getting in and out of cold and hot pools and steam baths and being scrubbed down with a stiff bristled brush. After the "treatment" you relaxed in large coed pools naked. Is this similar?

Hi J, this is way more casual. You just get in and out of the spring water (see photo) at your leisure, there's a cold shower you can use, and no scrubbing. Cloth caps and bathing suits are mandatory.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
We stayed in this hotel and used the pools when we walked in 2015. I can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed it. When we told the receptionist that we wouldn’t be able to have breakfast at the hotel because we were walking early to beat the heat, they left bagged breakfasts at our door in the middle of the night. It was so unexpected and made our day. My sister and I still talk about using the baths and how much we loved it after a long day of walking. I would definitely recommend the experience.
