jrviegas,I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for cafe's or coffee stops on the Portuguese caminho between Tui and Santiago.
mspath.jrviegas,
In an earlier post you noted that you planned to start in Porto. If so to help with your planning check out this post re walking through the Valenca Fortress towards Tui. Pictures are included. Bom caminho!
Thanks for uour update. I highly recommend the Pousada de São Teotónio in the fortress. I have often stayed there as a luxurious treat after finishing my caminos with my husband who flew down from Paris. Room 68 has a great view of the Eiffel bridge especially at night.mspath.
Due to various reasons we are going to be starting from Valenca instead of Porto.
Thanks for the post and the pictures of the Valenca Fortress.

Good pointBetween Pontevedra, Calde de Reis and Padròn there are some lovely cafés or make-shift restaurants really worth stopping at. I never did because I was with a friend who, alas, was not in the pilgrim mode but rather performance mode It is so important who you decide to walk with.
On the other hand I was advised not to stop for too long along between 2 towns as,
1) it is often difficult to start up again after having stopped too long, especially if one eats during the stop.
2) it was so hot, we wanted to walk as much as possible during the cooler hours of the day (between 6am and 10.30am )
3) arriving early in the pilgrim albergues allowed for more choice of 'sleeping cubicles' in dormitories.
So "café stops or not?" would be the important question in my view. Buen Camino !
