Time of past OR future Camino
Francés 18 Portugues 19 Sanabrés 19 Inglés 19
A question to those familiar with the city (Santiago de Compostela).

I'm about 2 days out from arriving at Santiago de Compostela on the Frances route. I was overly conservative on my flights, have extra days, and am thinking about doing the Portugues route. Where in the city can I find a copy of the corresponding Brierley guidebook (English language)? My default of going to Amazon isn't going to do it in this situation ...

Thanks!

Hi! Yes, there is a bookshop right in the centre of SdC and I bought the Brierley guides there (finisterre and camino ingles). The problem is.... I am not sure of the name of the road? It is where the Pilgrim’s office USED to be. Opposite there is a nice bar/cafe/restaurant. You carry on a little bit down that street and the bookshop is on the right handside. Rua Vilar?

Thank you for your feedback. Calibrating this information with those from locals, I ended up finding Brierley guidebooks at (as listed in Google Maps) Librería Follas Novas, Rúa de Montero Ríos, 37 y 50, 15701 Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña, Spain. A shelf full of Santiago books at the bottom level. Allowed me to extend my Camino into Caminos. Thanks!

hi - great name, 'summerfish': I love it, a good title for a novel!
I found a great little new book shop, on the Camino Way into the centre of Santiago, a specialist that offers galicia-english books. I bought 'Anthology of Galician Literature (1196-1981)' Its fascinating, on each page the left side in Galician, the right an english translation. I love it and haven't put it down. The shop is new and needs support. The book has a connection to my favourite arts and crafts shop in Santiago - 'Merlín e Familia'; Rúa de Xelmírez, 14, where I always buy a special little souvenir. The book shop is on the left, on the Way, is new but can easily be missed: on the Ruá de San Pedro. I can't remember its name.
