Thanks for the heads-up, just booked for April 23rd.
Thank you!!! Because of your post, I booked, too!
We stayed there in Early October-you will love it! Great small place. We met our Camino family there! Best decision we made while
It Only took maybe 3 to 4 hours. It’s a steep climb out of St Jean. It all depends on your speed. I stopped to take quite a few pictures. I also stopped at Orisson for a bite to eat and arrived in Borda before they opened. They had benches we sat on and waited until they opened. It’s a beautiful place! We booked the only private room they have. The rest of the space they have is for single beds in the dormitory type setting.Hi Karen
How long did it take you to reach Borda?
Thank youYou will get there by early afternoon, that is with a long stop at the balcony at Orisson. You can’t check in at Borda until 3:00.

I recommend you have a late start and spend time/have lunch at Orisson so you don’t arrive too early. You will be able to eat dinner and breakfast in Borda. I highly recommend a stop here. I’m so glad we did not try to get all the way to Roncesvalle in one day. The people we met there were awesome.
Enjoy!
Thanks for the tip!Oh gosh…. now I want to book something! The early morning start from Borda up into the misty pass was pure magic.
You could try emailing or calling them. It might be a technical problem with the website or the booking application.Just tried about 10 different dates for Borda in 2024. Nothing available.
First, I tried in early April, but then I just started clicking on random dates throughout the year and there was never any availability. Oh well.....
You booked online, or did you have to phone? Do they speak English?
You can book on their site, though they only have 12 or so beds, so they get booked up quickly! You booked online, or did you have to phone? Do they speak English?
I know you'd be just trying to be prepared and to cover all your bases with that idea, and in theory there's nothing wrong with that. But the problem here is that beds are hard to come by at the beginning of the Francés and making two bookings with every intention of cancelling one of them at the last minute only adds to the already-existing scarcity of beds for other pilgrims.I booked Borda for the beginning of April. I hope I can get there - if not, maybe I should book somewhere on the Valcarlos route too?
