Bilbao to St Jean transportation

Time of past OR future Camino
May - June 2025
Has anyone taken an Uber or cab from the Bilbao airport to St Jean PDP? I know there are public transportation options but am considering a quicker option. Thank you!

Fail to prepare? reduce your risk by buying this book full of practical info.
2nd ed.
That’s about 200kms and into another country! I doubt you’d find anyone willing to do it for less than 400€ given that they’d not get a fare to cover the return journey.

On Rome to Rio , there are busses and trains which will take about 6 hours

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
When we walked the Camino Frances we flew into Bilbao, took the bus to Pamplona, and started walking. I was 71 then and did not want to start my first day in SJPP and have to walk up and over a mountain on my first day.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
took the bus to Pamplona
Well done, I have done this, a great place to start.

Airport bus [every 20 mins) to Bilbao Intermodal (last stop so can't go wrong).

Buy bus ticked In advance ( https://laburundesa.com/ ) Bilbao Intermodal to Pamplona Bus Station (Iruña is Basque for Pamplona, though from memory, booking engine recognises both).

Buen Camino!

Plenty of restaurants around the Intermodal, so give yourself time. Bilbao and Pamplona are major University Cities so watch Friday evenings for bus bookings

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
