Bilbao or Santander to Santo Domingo de la Calzada?

Any suggestions on best way to travel from Bilbao or Santander to Santo Domingo de la Calzada from where I intend to start walking. I plan to travel 19th/20th Aug '15 and I can fly into either airport arr. aprox 4pm.

I note that there is one bus per day from Bilbao to Santo Domingo.

Otherwise go Bilbao to Logrono or Santander to Burgos and take the Autobuses Jimenez to Santo Domingo
