Hello folks - we're arriving at Bilbao airport 7:15 pm May 3. We'd like to begin walking the next day from Irun. Would appreciate any suggestions re transportation and timing and accommodations. Seems necessary to spend the night in Bilbao?

Last bus from Bilbao Intermodal station to Irun leaves at 8.10 pm and arrives at 10 pm.
Getting from airport to Intermodal takes 40 min by bus and more or less 15 minutes by taxi.
Bilbao airport is not that big and if you have only handluggage it might be doable. Otherwise spend a night in Bilbao, there are worse cities to stay!

Right - thanks! Likely stay in Bilbao after flying Hfx-Paris...sounds good. Then bus to Irun. Any recommendations how to find private accommodations in Bilbao with good food/coffee nearby?

Ibis City Budget is quite reasonable. Of course it is part of a chain but it is clean, decent and close to the busstation ( less than 1 k ).

Food and coffee plenty nearby.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
If you have time, take a walk around Bilbao - it's a nice place with wide walkways along the river where you can't miss the Guggenheim museum and the far lesser known, but very interesting, maritime museum further along. Some good restaurants and bars too.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
a night and a day or two - a gorgeous city - the Guggenheim is an international destination!
Totally...my daughter will be hiking with me til Bilbao and it is something we are looking forward to!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Hi I'm travelling to Burgos to walk part of the Camino Frances next year and my options seems to be fly into Santander and coach to Burgos, or fly into Madrid, then coach to Burgos. Don't think...
Hello! I’ve been browsing the forum and there’s plenty of info for baggage transfers from stage to stage, where you pick it up daily, give it back and move on, however what I’m after is a service...
